Hi, I'm Catrina

I’m so glad you’re here. From the very beginning of my career in therapy, I’ve been driven by a deep passion for helping others. I feel a profound calling to walk alongside survivors of abuse as they heal, reclaim their lives, and reconnect with their inner strength. My goal is to create a safe, supportive space where survivors feel empowered to rediscover their resilience and help them develop a path toward the life they deserve.  If this is you, you are not alone, and I’m here to help guide and support you every step of the way.

Qualifications and Experience

I am a Licensed Professional Counselor Supervisor (LPC-S) in Texas (#68184), with additional licensure as a Licensed Professional Counselor in Arizona (#LPC-22564) and Virginia (#0701013755). I am also credentialed to provide telehealth services in South Carolina (#779) and Florida (#TPMC3729), allowing me to offer support to clients across various states.

As a National Certified Counselor (NCC), I bring a high standard of professionalism and care to my work. I am also an EMDR Certified Therapist and an EMDR Approved Consultant, which means I specialize in a powerful, evidence-based approach to healing trauma. Additionally, I hold the title of Certified Clinical Trauma Professional (CCTP), reflecting my deep commitment to supporting individuals as they recover from the impacts of trauma.

My Journey in Supporting Survivors of Abuse

I started my clinical journey sitting across from survivors of abusive relationships in a domestic violence agency, listening as they tried to make sense of what they had been through. Even now, so many clients arrive in therapy confused, second-guessing themselves, and asking things like, “Is this really abusive or am I gaslighting myself?” or “What’s wrong with me that I still miss my ex?”

I’ve seen how hard it is to name emotional abuse, especially when no one else has validated it. Often, clients minimize their pain with phrases like, “It wasn’t that bad. Other people have it worse.” But I’ve also seen what happens when the dots begin to connect. When someone realizes they’re not broken, but have been deeply wounded by someone they trusted. There are often tears in those moments. Relief. And a sense that they’re finally being heard without judgment.

My role isn’t to tell anyone what to do. It’s to create a space where survivors feel safe enough to explore their own truths, regain their sense of self, and consider their next steps at their own pace.

Healing from trauma is not about “just talking it out.” Many of the survivors I work with feel stuck. They understand what happened logically, but the fear, guilt, or shame still live in their body. That’s where EMDR comes in. As an EMDR Certified Therapist and Consultant, I use this approach to help clients safely process painful memories without getting overwhelmed. EMDR can reduce emotional intensity and help the brain and body begin to feel safe again.

My work is grounded in trauma-informed care, which means I do not assume, push, or pathologize. I recognize how trauma can shape a person’s identity, relationships, and sense of safety. My goal is always to honor each client’s pace and autonomy while offering clinical strategies that support real healing.

As an EMDR Approved Consultant, I guide other clinicians in deepening their trauma work using EMDR. I have supported therapists across diverse settings, including domestic violence agencies, psychiatric hospitals, and private practice, in learning how to hold space for complex trauma with greater confidence and clinical skill.

I am also a speaker and guest on trauma-related panels and podcasts, where I share insights on emotional abuse recovery, trauma bonds, and what real healing looks like for survivors. It is an honor to contribute to the wider conversation and help both professionals and survivors feel more equipped and less alone.
