The right kind of therapy meets you where you are, not where someone thinks you should be.
Dear Survivor,
You’ve probably heard that EMDR intensives can be life-changing. Maybe someone you trust recommended them, or you’ve read stories from other survivors who found peace through this format. But now you’re left wondering, “Is this really right for me?”
That’s a sacred question. And the answer depends on where you are in your healing, what kind of support you need, and how you feel about deep emotional work in a focused setting.
EMDR intensives give trauma survivors the chance to heal deeply and efficiently in a compassionate, structured space.
If you feel stuck despite regular therapy, an intensive can help move things forward. If you’re facing a big life transition and want to clear emotional blocks quickly, it can offer that. If your trauma feels complex and layered, but you’re emotionally stable enough to explore it with support, this might be exactly what you need.
That said, EMDR intensives are not for everyone. If you’re in crisis, actively unsafe, or struggling with addiction or severe dissociation, a slower pace of therapy may be more appropriate. The goal is to expand your healing, not overwhelm your system.
The best way to know if EMDR intensives are a fit is to talk with a trauma-informed therapist who offers them. They can assess readiness, help you prepare emotionally, and create a plan that centers your safety.
If you’re curious, the Recovery Roadmap is a free guide designed to help survivors like you explore your healing options. It offers insight into where you are on your journey and whether an intensive might support your next step.
There’s no shame in asking the question. There’s power in honoring the answer.
Blessings and healing,
Catrina
